Try "The Drums Pro". It's a windows program that will allow you to suse
patterns (or make your own) and string them together like a drum machine. I
doubt it is as nice as one of the expensive Roland human rhythm composers but
it's shareware! I downloaded it a few days ago and it's pretty nice. You can
get it at ftp.cs.ruu.nl in pub/midi/programs/mswindows. It's called
TDPRO110.zip. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

I happen to know of a fairly good piece of software which simulates a
4 track recorder. The demo can be attained at ftp.vortex.com and I believe
the zipped file is called saw3demo. Sorry I can't remeber what directory it's
in so you may just have to do some looking around. In order for this program
to work well you need a really fast hard drive and the more memory the
better.
